Why We Don’t Use Delivery Services at Two Chicks

In recent years, third-party delivery services such as DoorDash, Uber Eats, and Grubhub have surged in popularity, offering convenience and accessibility for consumers seeking their favorite restaurant meals from the comfort of their homes. These platforms have revolutionized the food industry, providing restaurants with a new avenue to reach a broader customer base and increase sales. However, the allure of third-party delivery services is not universal, as they present many challenges and drawbacks for certain types of restaurants and businesses. With high commission fees, potential customer service failures, and logistics issues, restaurants must carefully weigh the pros and cons before embracing these platforms as a part of their business model.

  1. Two Chicks Doesn’t Travel Well

Perhaps our biggest reason for not choosing to use delivery services is that our food just doesn't travel well. We believe our food is best enjoyed hot and fresh at our tables. By limiting the time between the kitchen and the consumer, we don’t have to worry about melted butter, soggy egg benedicts, and stale toast.

  2. Profit Margins Are Slim

Sit-down restaurants have notoriously slim profit margins and with third-party delivery services charging both the guests and the restaurants fees, there’s not much left to go around. These services may work for your business if you have very low overhead and can afford the dent in profit, or if you are hoping to get your name in front of new guests. Just be sure you are confident in your numbers before joining one of these services!

  3. Customer Service

Inviting anyone into your customer service pipeline can be scary, let alone an entire company. We know these companies have many amazing employees but letting go of the customer service reins is not something we’re currently interested in.

In the ever-evolving landscape of the restaurant industry, the decision of whether to embrace third-party delivery services is crucial. It is important to do thorough research on the pros and cons associated with these services. We urge restaurants to carefully evaluate the impact on their operations, customer satisfaction, and profitability.

Ultimately, the choice to adopt third-party delivery services should align with your restaurant's ethos and long-term goals. By remaining educated and adaptable, restaurants should aim for a strategy that maximizes success and customer satisfaction in this rapidly changing industry.
